The province of Ontario provides a refundable Seniors Care at Home tax credit equal to 25% of eligible expenses incurred by low- and middle-income Ontario seniors aged 70 and older for medical supports, including such expenses as eyeglasses, hearing aids, walkers, and wheelchairs. As well, both the federal and Ontario governments offer a non-refundable tax credit for eligible medical expenses incurred which are not covered by public or private insurance. The same eligible expense can be claimed under both the Seniors Care at Home tax credit and the federal and Ontario medical expense tax credit programs.
This fall, Ontario Finance will be holding several webinars to provide information on the provincial Seniors Care at Home and medical expense tax credits. Those webinars will be held on September 9, October 23, November 18, and December 4. All such webinars are provided free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
